SENTILLION UNVEILS VIRTUALIZED, SERVER-LESS REMOTE ACCESS SOLUTION
vThere’s™ Disruptive Approach Resolves the Cost, Complexity, and Performance Limitations of Today’s Remote Access Alternatives
ANDOVER, Mass. - June 26, 2006 - Addressing the challenges and limitations associated with supporting a remote and mobile workforce as well as virtual employees, Sentillion, the leading provider of identity and access management solutions for the healthcare industry, today unveiled vThere™. This virtualized remote access solution enables organizations from any industry to deliver exactly the same application access, user experience and level of security as if the user were physically within the enterprise, without the need for a costly server-based infrastructure. Available immediately, vThere is the inaugural solution from the company’s new strategic business unit, Sentillion vBusiness.
"Until the advent of vThere, organizations were forced to
choose between remote access solutions that required expensive systems
infrastructure and management, delivered inferior user experiences,
or introduced security threats to the IT organization,” said Paul
Roscoe, president, Sentillion vBusiness. “vThere presents a new
paradigm for remote access because it doesn’t require an organization
to make such trade-offs."
vThere leverages virtualization technology to enable users to run fully
isolated, software-only PCs on computers in remote venues such as a home or
branch office. vThere provides a virtual computer that replicates the same experience
workers have when physically within the enterprise, including desktop look and feel,
access to applications, printers and file sharing and network security.
vThere users are connected into the enterprise network without the need for any additional
centralized servers and their software-only PCs are therefore seen as managed devices by the
enterprise’s IT department. This approach simplifies the administration, support and management of
remote users by enabling the organization to leverage their existing support infrastructure investments.
vThere is currently being deployed in leading healthcare organizations across North America, with
deployments in other industries to follow shortly. Early adopters of vThere include Cottage Health System
(Santa Barbara, Calif.), Inova Health System (Fairfax, Va.) and Kettering Medical Center (Dayton, Ohio).
Kettering will be one of the first healthcare organization in the country to offer their physicians remote
access to the in-hospital applications and experience when they are in their practice offices or at home.
How Does It Work?
vThere consists of the vThere™ Image Creator which is used by IT
departments to create distributable vThere™ images; the vThere™
Player which is used for playing the images on the end-user host
computers; and www.vThere.net,
a managed Web site for users to obtain and download their images
securely.
Once the vThere image is loaded on the remote user’s PC, the user simply logs in
using their network credentials to open a secure VPN connection to the corporate network.
Once logged in, the remote user has access to all of the services, directories and applications
as they would if they were physically in the office. vThere also supports the use of RSA SecurID®
for strong authentication.
Pricing & Availability
vThere pricing is based per concurrent user. With no additional server infrastructure required to
support vThere, Sentillion estimates that deployment costs will be 30-40 percent less than other remote
access solutions currently available on the market.
vThere, is the flagship product in the company’s newly launched business unit, Sentillion vBusiness,
which brings to all industries software solutions that virtualize business capabilities and extends them
beyond the boundaries of the corporate network, without sacrificing performance or security. Available immediately,
vThere is being marketed and sold in all vertical markets.
