ONE OF SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN'S PREMIER HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS, OAKWOOD HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, SIGNS UP FOR SINGLE SIGN-ON
Partners With Sentillion To Deliver Identity and Access Management Solutions to 10,000 Users
ANDOVER, Mass. - September 28, 2006 - After a thorough evaluation
of the Identity and Access Management (IAM) marketplace, Oakwood
Healthcare System (OHS), one of southeast Michigan's premier healthcare
providers, has selected Sentillion to improve security and enhance
HIPAA compliance through the implementation of the Vergence single sign-on and context management solutions. OHS will provide Vergence
to its 10,000 users as the organization looks to improve access
to its current heterogeneous application set, including their legacy
electronic patient record system, Siemens INVISION® and Microsoft®
Outlook®, and paves the way for the impending implementation
of GE Centricity® Enterprise (formerly IDX® Carecast).
"Our challenge in this project is to balance providing an
enhanced end-user experience through demonstrated ease of use and
improved patient care, with the concerns of our security team, system
administrators, network technicians, database architects and a host
of other stakeholders," said Marjorie Mathews, director of
project management for OHS. "In the end, Vergence offered us
not only the best technical fit, but we felt Sentillion represented
the best option for us in terms of predictability and risk mitigation
for our deployment of IAM."
The Sentillion-OHS partnership was born out of a rigorous and competitive
evaluation process, which included comprehensive technical product
reviews and in-depth due diligence with existing customers. The
multi-faceted evaluation process delved into detailed technical
and non-technical features, including system security, flexibility
and extensibility as well as ease of deployment and overall end-user
experience. In the end, repeated customer comments about Vergence
being easy to install as well as Sentillion's technical approach
to business continuity, provided OHS with the additional confidence
they needed to partner with Sentillion.
"Given the mission-critical nature of these IAM solutions,
it was extremely important to OHS that our selected vendor measure
up to our substantial technical and security requirements. Sentillion
successfully met those requirements and provided additional support
in the form of multiple live customer references," said Cecelia
Waskiewicz, director of information security and administrative
services for OHS. "When combined with the fact that they stand
as a single point of support for all IAM solutions, as opposed to
vendors who daisy-chain with one another, we are extremely confident
that our partnership with Sentillion will yield significant benefits
for both our caregivers and IT staff."
"From our initial discussions it was apparent that Oakwood
is an organization that is deeply committed to improving the caregiver's
experience in accessing patient information quickly and efficiently
through the use of state-of-the-art technology," said Nancy
Ham, president of Sentillion. "We are delighted that the health
system will leverage Vergence in its continued efforts to deliver
on this mission."
