SENTILLION TAKES HEALTHCARE IDENTITY MANAGEMENT TO A NEW LEVEL WITH RELEASE OF PROVISIONING MANAGER 2.4

New Version of the Most Widely Implemented User Provisioning Solution for Healthcare Applications Includes Features & Functionality for Self-Service and Compliance

ANDOVER, Mass. – May 7, 2007 –Making it even easier for healthcare organizations to provision computer users and to maintain regulatory compliance, Sentillion today announced the general availability of its award-winning user provisioning solution, Provisioning Manager™ 2.4.  Provisioning Manager is a comprehensive, Fortune 500-class solution which is purpose-built to address healthcare’s unique challenges such as the need to conduct role-based provisioning for people who serve in multiple roles and the requirement to automate account management for complex clinical applications. Provisioning Manager is presently used by healthcare organizations to administer more than 125,000 managed identities.

Provisioning Manager automatically creates, updates, suspends and deletes user accounts in clinical, administrative and personal productivity applications, resulting in improved compliance with security guidelines, rapid turn-around on provisioning requests, and a greater reduction in IT costs.  Sentillion’s Provisioning Manager is deployed in over 31 hospitals including BryanLGH Medical Center, Park Nicollet Health Services, Sisters of Mercy Health System and Sharp HealthCare. Organizations leveraging Provisioning Manager have been able to decrease the time it takes to provision a user from weeks to just one day or even hours, which means caregivers can have access to their systems on the day they start their jobs.

“Historically, the provisioning process was so complex that the hiring manager was required to complete 4 or 5 forms that had to be faxed to and from the IT department.  This process was time consuming and inconsistent and it typically took days to weeks to completely provision a new caregiver,” said Michael Gutsche, Executive Director, Information Security and Client Systems, Sisters of Mercy Health System.  “As a result of implementing Provisioning Manager, we have reduced the time it takes to provision a user to less than 24 hours and have improved user satisfaction by empowering them with complete access to their authorized systems on their first day of work.  In addition, we now have an automated and standardized way to provision a user, resulting in a much more efficient system from an operational perspective.”

Provisioning Manager 2.4 includes new features promoting more self-service operations, further optimization of provisioning processes as well as compliance management, including:

  • Self-service account and Active Directory (AD) password reset and unlock operations, as well as self-service user profile changes. Non-technical end users can perform these self-service operations via a web interface, resulting in significantly fewer helpdesk calls and increased user satisfaction.
  • Automated feed of provisioning requests from trusted sources such as human resource and physician credentialing systems, enabling hands free and timely account creations, changes and terminations.  This also significantly reduces the workload of IT staff when on-boarding groups such as new residents and agency nurses.
  • A standardized automation framework for automated provisioning of clinical and non-clinical applications that greatly reduces the cost and time of deployment.  The framework leverages the BridgeWorks™ tool kit that gained recognition for its rapid integration of healthcare applications with Sentillion’s SignOn Manager.
  • Reports supporting Attestation and Recertification workflows to support an organization’s compliance and security needs.

Today, in most healthcare organizations the provisioning process requires IT administrators to manually create, manage and terminate user accounts. This process is extremely labor intensive, time-consuming, and prone to errors, often resulting in significant delays. The delays in account creation and modification can lead to end-user frustration, while the delay in account termination may lead to security vulnerabilities and substantial risk to exposure for the organization.

“User provisioning in healthcare requires a solution with a level, scale and scope unmatched by needs in other industries,” said Robert Seliger, CEO of Sentillion.  “Creating and managing user accounts for clinical, business and personal productivity applications is more challenging in healthcare than in many other industries.  The user population in healthcare spans vastly different job functions requiring a myriad of highly specialized applications to perform their services.  In addition, each healthcare application requires access levels that vary by role.  It is to address this complex combination of users, access levels and account configuration in highly specialized applications that Sentillion has developed our “deep provisioning” technology.
